“It was the spring of 1981; I went along with my friend to his bands practice to watch, they coincidentally, were holding singer auditions. After watching them go through about a half dozen or so hopefuls, the band feeling rather discouraged turned to me and asked me if I wanted to do a song, ’Just for fun’, so the band could at least get through one song with complete vocals. I had never stepped in front of a microphone before, feeling very uneasy, and after a whole lot of coaxing from them I decided to give it a shot. Making it successfully through the song. The band promptly left the room, leaving me standing there by myself! Upon their return to the room, all my friend said was, ‘You’re in’. From that point on I was hooked! The song was Judas Priest’s first radio hit “Livin' after Midnight.”
“After being in a series of local bands pounding at the unforgiving Milwaukee music scene, performing countless shows, doing many original songs, plus material by bands such as Priest, Maiden, UFO, Savatage, Slayer, Merciful fate/King Diamond, Pantera plus others, experiencing a whole lot of ups and downs along the way, but enjoying it all. After all the years, after all the trials and tribulations of band politics, bands starting, bands ending. It’s interesting to find myself right back were I started, singing “Livin' after Midnight”, with a bunch buddies again. It’s great! and I feel very happy to be able to do this. I guess it’s true what they say, life really does go in cycles.”
